??The Fall Reviews Are In ??
Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber
The premier business and civic organization dedicated to growing the vibrancy and economic prosperity of the region.
Back at the end of August, I wrote about the Cincinnati Chamber’s “Fall Preview” – all of the wonderful events that kick off what is always our busiest season. Today, I want to turn the tables a bit and talk “Fall?Review” because what a stretch this month has been! In the last 7 weeks alone, we have held our Annual Leadership Center Celebration, launched our annual State of the Region report, took local leaders to Washington, DC for our DC Fly-In, welcomed our newest Leadership Center classes, hosted leaders from around the country for the Brookings Center Regional Inclusive Growth Initiative conference, and pulled off two of this city’s largest events: Oktoberfest and BLINK, illuminated by ArtsWave . I’m so proud of the Chamber team and all of our partners, sponsors, and stakeholders for what we’ve accomplished together.?
But we don’t stop! In a few weeks, we will announce our newest Great Living Cincinnatians and hold the Fifth Third Bank Diversity Leadership Symposium . ?
If you have participated in just one of these events, you are part of the Cincinnati Regional Chamber community. You are helping grow our economy, population, and cultural vibrancy. You are making Cincinnati a growing, thriving region where everyone belongs. This week also marks the time of year when we launch our annual Membership campaign. If you are a member already, we appreciate you for your ongoing support.? ?
If you are not yet a member, please consider joining . We’re doing great work to grow our region, and we would love for you to be an even bigger part of it. ?
Lastly, I hope you are still reveling in the good vibes that come from BLINK. The numbers will, of course, come in over the next few weeks. But what we really should be counting are the millions of smiles that lit up our region this weekend. The massive celebration of public art and community that we were so fortunate to have experienced right here in our own backyard. BLINK is so important in that we are able to help sell our region to talent, businesses, and organizations that want to grow here. And, it shows off who we are and aspire to be—a community that values cultural vibrancy. ?
My favorite projection during BLINK was the Neil Armstrong mural. It was brought to life by Kyle Ebersole, a recording of “Jupiter” performed by the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, and of course, the words of Mr. Armstrong himself. That great Cincinnatian didn’t speak much, but when he did, we were wise to listen. More than 40 years ago, he spoke to a graduating class at the University of Cincinnati. There, to assembled guests, he said that “serendipity is a vital ingredient to human progress…serendipity is most likely to occur to those who are best prepared to notice the unexpected and recognize its value.” ?
I hope you took the time to stop and notice the many moments of serendipity that were likely to occur this weekend. And I hope that the rest of this autumn brings you even more experiences that illuminate your lives.?? ?
Onward!
P.S. We are always striving to improve our events, and BLINK is no exception. Please take this year’s survey to let us know what you thought!
