Fall In Love With The Work

"Jeff, can I sell something I don't love?"

Of course,?you can make a good living doing it, too, but you won't be able to do your best work.

Coin-operated salespeople operate two degrees of separation away from their desired result- the commission check. That's not a problem;?we all have families to feed, but that amount of disconnection from the actual work prevents you from embracing and doing more of it.

Think of it this way. Your VP is two degrees of separation in the org chart from the front lines, and they're always in touch with what's really going on, right? It's a meaningful comparison when you think about how connected you need to be with the work in order to deliver your best results.

If you want to make this your best year ever, fall in love with the work and know?that the commissions will come.

Focus on the work and you'll get results.

Focus on results, and you'll get frustrated.

Fall in love with the work, and you'll get fulfillment and results.

You'll do better?work and you'll do it more often. That's what exponential growth looks like.

I hate cold calling but I love prospecting for new business relationships, even if it means making cold outreach phone calls. When I was a cold caller the only thing I could think about was booking meetings. Now with a different outlook on prospecting, I go into my conversations looking for fit. Every outcome is "good" because I'm learning, whether they become customers or not. Like you said Jeff, I'm way more fulfilled and getting great results too.

Fantastic as always, Jeff. Fulfilled is the right word and that I am. Well, more so after we win the Super Bowl. . .
