The Fall in Love with Pittsburgh Tour
If you have lived in Pittsburgh for any amount of time, it is easy to fall in love with the city and surrounding areas. But, what if you only have a couple of hours to show off some of the great assets the city has to offer? What would you do? Where would you visit?? We think the "Powercast - Fall in Love with Pittsburgh Tour" is a great place to start!
We recently learned? an employee that moved to Pittsburgh four months ago had never even seen the city. He had been commuting from his home to the office everyday, and never got out to explore.? Last Friday we took him out to learn a little bit about his new home. It is a quick, fun, fact filled trip that is sure to make a visitor quickly fall in love with our great city.?
Of course you start at the Duquesne Incline. ($5.00 round trip PP)? This gives a great aerial overview of the city and helps with overall orientation.??
Then drive past the Gateway Clipper Fleet and through Station Square. (Great restaurants for a night out when his wife and kids arrive)?
Head into the city over the iconic Smithfield street Bridge and take a quick drive through Market Square. We point out how cool the PPG Ice rink is in the winter and where he will probably eat his first Primanti Brothers sandwich. Then we struggle for a ? hour explaining why fries and coleslaw are on an egg sandwich. And end with a loud,? “Trust me it’s GOOD!”
On the way to Randyland stop and get an iceball ($1.25) from Gus & Yiayia’s famous ice stand in Allegheny Commons Park on the Northside.?
Drive through the Mexican War Street's row houses and then stop in at Randyland (Free, Donations Accepted) . If Randy is there, stay an hour, if not it takes 15 minutes.??

If strange, random weird art is their thing, consider heading over to Bicycle Heaven (Free, Donations Accepted) and bet them you can find the bike they had when they were a kid. (FYI, You will not lose that bet)?
After wrapping that up, Head over for a drink at Federal Galley in Nova Place, formerly Allegheny Center, and see how the world’s first indoor mall turned into a thriving restaurant, office and co-working space.
Top it all off with a unique Pittsburgh dining experience. ? Just head right across the street from PNC Park to North Shore Tavern or Mikes Beer Bar (Same owner) and try the Steak on a Stone.? Pair the filet with one or two of over 80 local Pittsburgh beers on tap!
We know there is so much more that Pittsburgh has to offer, but this is a great first step in turning someone into a fan of the city. Let us know where else you would take someone on a quick tour of the city.
