Fall in love with inconveniences- they can save your life!

We've been sold the message of convenience as time savers. The more conveniently placed something is, the easier and quicker it is to get it.

Think about where the plates are in your kitchen.? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? Where are the cups in relation to your kettle?? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? How about the cutlery drawer in relation to the stove?

All conveniently located? Of course the cups are on the shelf above the kettle, or hanging on the hooks. The cutlery drawer is in-between the cooker and the dishwasher, that way you don’t have to go far to put them away or get them out.

I agree with Katy Bowman who wrote a great book called Move your DNA, convenience doesn’t save time it cuts down on movement. What do you do with all the movements you cut down on, you go to the gym of course and replace them.

Every convenience reduces little movements and saves energy. And in a sedentary world we all know where that energy goes. The first law of thermodynamics -says energy is not created or destroyed simply transformed. In the case of movement, less movement means more storage for us. Micro movements means that energy is not stored but converted into other forms. Over time the effects build up in a positive way. Better health.

I told my wife we're going to put the plates in the lowest cupboard to encourage movements like bending and squatting.

If you look after your gluteus maximus, the biggest muscle in the body, it will look after you.

It's responsible for helping you to stand up from a sitting position, climb stairs and keep you upright.?

So how many of us love doing squats? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? How many of us do 10 a day, 4 times a week?? That’s 40 by the way.

So if you follow the Johnson school of kitchen layouts and put your plates on the bottom shelf and eat three meals a day. In a week = 3x7 = 21 squats. ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? What's more you don't even have to think about it??

My wife by the way told me while I'm down there get her plates as well.

Anybody have any more inconvenient ideas?
