Fall Internship Experience at Core-Mark International

I have an incredible opportunity to work as a Business Intelligence Analyst Intern at Core-Mark International with the Core Solutions team this Fall at their Westlake office. ?I am extremely grateful to my manager and my team for amazing technical guidance, support, and mentorship throughout my tenure.

From its humble beginnings in 1888 as Glaser Bros., a single tobacco storefront in San Francisco, Core-Mark has grown into the largest and most-valued marketer of consumer goods in North America. While the past century has brought incredible changes to its business and the world in which they operate, our goal is the same today as it was over 120 years ago — to provide customers with the best possible service and to help them grow their sales and profits. They offer a full range of products, marketing programs, and technology solutions to our customers, allowing them to do and be more.

My responsibilities as a Business Intelligence Analyst Intern included the following:

• Creating Power BI dashboards for the team to discover data gaps and bottlenecks related to various business elements and to provide a consolidated view of the data.
• Organization, analysis, and standardization of data across multiple corporate database systems to boost insight and decision-making effectiveness.

During this period, I was able to enhance not only my technical capabilities but also my communication and presentation abilities. I found the team to be quite supportive and welcoming. As a result of which, I never felt out of place and was able to adapt quickly to the organization's culture.

Finally, I'd like to express my gratitude to all of the professors at The University of Texas at Dallas for their advice, knowledge, and support during lectures, which greatly aided me throughout my Fall'22 internship.
