The Fall of Ethics & Rise of New Ethic

As fake media crippled the rule of law, we are also witnessing erosion of trust for institutions globally as "...citizens’ trust in their leaders, are in retreat, in both established democracies like the United States, and in entrenched autocracies, from Russia to China to Venezuela." At the same time respect for the rule of law has declined in many EU member-states, including in Western Europe. Even in such countries like Canada the majority of Canadians (60%), said that their trust for politicians had been permanently eroded. So not only the US media, but the British media have played a significant role, having increasingly failed in their duty to hold the government to account. Plus covid-19 frenzy helped many countries tighten the noose on citizen rights.

With ethical fading seeing the law being undermined poses an array of risks - how does business handle employee and stakeholder activism with other things raging around them where none of them contribute to positive culture of employee engagement? Gradually deflated business ethics is being replaced with whistleblower culture of diversity and inclusion that isn't all that inspiring for everyone anyway.

Regardless of these developments senior execs are expected to demonstrate that proverbial integrity because corporate misconduct that's plagued companies gets more public scrutiny with whistleblower awareness and demand for psychological safety for employees to speak up on misconduct. Plus DOJ wants to see conduct at the top, not that stale tone from the past.

So time for senior management to grow up and embrace the inevitable rather then try to lip sync and impersonate Gandhi or Mandela.
