There’s something magical about this season, about Fall. The vibrant reds and yellows of the leaves stir up a sense of nostalgia and transformation, making me pause and reflect on my own journey. Someone said, in this season, the trees are about to teach us the beauty of letting go but only for a new beautiful beginning. Once I was a child living in a refugee camp in Hong Kong, then I was a teenager navigating the lower economic ends of Parkdale and Roncesvalles in Toronto’s west end in the early 90s, I can’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude for how far I’ve come.
It was a few Falls ago when I made a pivotal decision—to pursue higher education. That decision led me to complete my Master of Education, a milestone that once felt distant. Then, just last Fall, I embarked on my MBA journey, which has challenged me in ways I couldn’t have imagined and opened up new avenues for growth. And here I am, this Fall, contemplating yet another academic pursuit—an earned Doctorate in Education, perhaps. It’s as if Fall is the season that nudges me towards bold, transformative steps.
This Fall, I find myself leaning deeper into the type of work that resonate with my passions for people development, learning, innovation, knowledge, and technology. It’s exciting and a little surreal. I wonder where I’ll be next Fall, what new horizons I’ll be exploring, and what growth will unfold in the months to come.
Fall has always been a season of change, a time to reflect on where we’ve been and where we’re headed. For me, it’s become a marker of crucial moments and new beginnings. What a beautiful season indeed.
