Fall ~ The Beautiful, The Damned, & The Starved of Love - Volume One.
I failed English in my (senior year ???? | year 12 ????) and had to repeat it.
Before you roll your eyes, it actually wasn’t because I was a rebellious, drumming, dirt bike rider who had suffered a multitude of knocks to the head ??).?
It came down to one ‘descriptive’ writing assignment. My teacher was convinced I had plagiarized the assignment. So much so, that it became that teacher's truth. The teacher was horribly mistaken, I had completed the assignment at home, away from the noise and distraction.?
Fail or not, this taught me two things early. Everyone has their own reality and … that I need, what I call, ‘my soul to be still’ to really unravel that black heart and write.?
They say ‘When you’re happy you enjoy the music, but when you’re sad you understand the lyrics.’ ?? - Thinking back, I figure that teacher just really enjoys the music.?
PS: The great hidden lesson here is….. plagiarize as much as possible in your senior year. ????#dontdothat
PPS: The real lesson here is…. Be honest with your craft always, even if it’s misunderstood. ???? #dothat

Fall
V1.
The cold November just blew right through my skin
Like the devil himself had just walked right in
To claim another bruised and aching soul
He always seemed to know when I was left alone
V2.
The paper lanterns are dancing on the breeze
Hand in hand with the falling leaves
And all the streets are lonely like a heart that's been left behind
In the hands of a woman who has stolen mine
Chorus.
When the winter finally calls
I don’t want to feel the pain of lonely anymore
I don’t feel my love retreat to the darkest end on a Nashville street
And I need to wash her memory away
Before the season take hold of me
When the winter finally calls
I’m going to need a soft place to fall
V3.
So light the candle so I can find my way back home
To the emptiness of a white-washed room
She knows that my heart was squarely on her side
And she knew the scar that she would leave behind
Chorus.
When the winter finally calls
I’m going to need a soft place to fall
Rain won't wash this pain away
The sun won't shine to burn these clouds draped over me
Chorus.
