Continuous education gives HR the ability to evolve and stay relevant in their organization and in the HR industry. With layoffs, hiring, benefit enrollment, etc., HR professionals are swamped at work. How can HR continue to learn when their desk is full?
Here are some different ways you can engage in continuous learning:
Online Courses
There are a wide range of courses on various HR and business topics. Websites like Coursera, Udemy, and edX provide access to courses taught by experts from universities and institutions.?
By Design Brainery is a great place to learn from HR experts. We have several courses going live in September including:
Design Thinking 101 - 3-Day Virtual Course on how to use design thinking
Reel Time Recruitment - Multi-week Virtual Course on recruitment strategies
Empowering Women in the Workplace - 3-Day Virtual Course for women who want to improve their standing in the workforce
Cards for Culture - Multi-week Virtual Course on becoming certified in Cards for Culture
Building Employee Experiences - 3-Day Virtual Course on understanding the reasons why employee experience is important.
Webinars and Workshops
Participate in webinars and workshops conducted by professionals and organizations in your field of interest. These virtual events often offer valuable insights, practical knowledge, and networking opportunities. Society for HR Management (SHRM) , Human Capital Institute (HCI), HR Certification Institute , and Bersin are some organizations that offer webinars and workshops dedicated to human resources.

Podcasts and Audiobooks
Listen to podcasts and audiobooks that cover topics you want to learn more about. This allows you to learn while on the go, making the most of your commute or leisure time. A great place to find podcasts is on a website called Recruiting Brainfood (https://www.recruitingbrainfood.com/big-list-of-podcasts/ ).
Online Forum and Discussion Groups
Participate in online forums, discussion boards, and social media groups related to HR. My favorite online forum is Steve Browne’s HR Net (https://hrnet.forumbee.com/ ).
By Design Brainery has a Career Circle Mastermind that is free to join. This is a mastermind group for HR professionals currently looking for a new role in HR. The monthly meeting includes networking, career strategy discussions and guest speakers that can help you with your search, mindset, etc.
Experiential Learning
Embrace hands-on experiences and learn by doing. Take up projects, internships, or volunteer work that allow you to apply your knowledge and develop new skills.
Cross-disciplinary Learning
Explore a variety of business subjects to gain interdisciplinary knowledge, discover connections with HR and foster creativity.
Continuous learning is a lifelong process and the key is to stay curious, open-minded, and proactive in seeking new opportunities for growth and development.
Select 1 or 2 ways to add continuous learning into your life. Be your career advocate.
