Fall Is In The Air
Finally! Fall officially started this week and the weather is finally starting to feel like it. This is one of my favorite times of the year... from football season, beautiful weather, changing leaves & of course everything pumpkin flavored, Fall in Charlotte is perfect :)
It is also a great time to remember to do some maintenance on your home before winter. Here are just a few important tips to remember to do:
1. Clean your gutters- the changing leaves are beautiful BUT when they fall into your gutters, it can be a problem...be proactive and start getting them cleaned out now.
2. Check your fireplace- if you are one of the few that has a wood-burning fireplace, make sure to clean it before cozying up next to it for the first time...it's a great idea to do a chimney sweep!
3. Keep your plumbing warm- to help prevent frozen pipes this winter, and to save some energy, go ahead and wrap the water pipes that run along your exterior walls with pipe jackets, insulation or electric heat tape.
4. Weather-proof your doors and windows- this will not only prevent the sniffles, but will help save you money and be more energy efficient! You can use anything from caulk to self-stick foam or plastic to improve your weather-stripping.
These are a few small fixes, but they will pay off this winter!
