Fall 2022 Internship Experience

I secured my Summer Internship at o9 Solutions Inc. located in Dallas in the month of April of 2022. O9 Solutions uniquely enables companies to make fast and better decisions – by providing one single platform for forecasting, supply chain, and financial planning, all powered by real-time data, from internal and external sources.

After my 10-week summer internship, which began on June 6th, 2022, o9 extended me an offer to continue the internship into a fall co-op and I was beyond ready to accept that. During my internship as a Technical Consultant Intern, I felt challenged, valued and entrusted with impactful work. This internship gave me the opportunity to reflect on my key skills and to learn new ones. The first few weeks were challenging due to learning all the new terms and terminologies associated with the supply chain industry, understanding how the team contributes to the organization, and learning what tools and technologies we use. But as they say, give it some time and it will all make sense, I was fortunate to have mentors like?Lohith?and?Rupesh Pradhan?who lead me effortlessly through my tasks and responsibilities while always watching my back. I am grateful to my Manager –?David Graham,?who helped me, encouraged me and enhanced me as an employee of such an esteemed organization.?

It was a pleasure to work on projects that were not only challenging, but also gave me the opportunity to learn about various forecasting techniques, demand planning techniques and how to deliver quick results in a fast-paced environment. In my role, I deep dove into the client's business requirements; extracting, processing, and delivering data with the required analysis and using SSIS to accomplish the automated batch processing. By monitoring the automated batches, recording their performances with every sprint and summarizing them, I was expected to come up with potential solutions that could improve the error management/handling and resolving process.

During this internship, I applied a variety of technical and data science skills to a business context. I had done similar activities during my Database foundations coursework. The algorithms and statistical forecasting methods I learned in those courses helped me immensely with my internship. Having said that, dealing with the actual client data was more challenging and rewarding at the same time.
