Fall 2022 Internship Experience

Fall 2022 Internship Experience

My Fall 2022 internship was an extension to my summer internship, where I worked with Veritas Technologies LLC as Business Analyst Intern in Global Physical Security Team.

American multinational leader in multi-cloud data management, Veritas Technologies LLC is based in Santa Clara, California. Veritas finds solutions where others fail. It delivers tried-and-true, contemporary, integrated technology that combines availability, protection, and insights with an industry-leading product portfolio. The Veritas Enterprise Data Services Platform tackles all present and future data concerns, ensuring the high availability of mission-critical workloads, safeguarding data everywhere, and offering insights to reduce costs and retain regulatory compliance. The market leader in enterprise backup and data recovery solutions is Veritas Technologies. We are trusted by more than 80,000 clients, including 87% of the Fortune Global 500, to abstract IT complexity and streamline data management.

Working with the Global Physical Security team was an absolute pleasure. Our team's responsibility is to oversee and maintain the physical security of all our offices worldwide. This means that the management of all employee access cards, access doors, and the overall security of the property are all part of our job.

I dealt with internal company data and provided insights as a business analyst intern. I worked on data scraping, automation, advanced Excel, Power BI, and two other corporate software for the project. Reporting and keeping tabs on current data were part of my everyday duties. I designed a set of data automation pipelines that scraped information from the internet, built dynamic connections, and then used Power Query to analyze it before delivering a real-time monitoring Power-Bi dashboard that addressed two business issues. The dashboard was very useful in tracking and monitoring International SOS alerts around all our office locations, and this optimized the alert processing and notifying time.

My internship allowed me to polish my technical abilities while also collaborating directly with department members, and it was a great learning experience. Robotic Process Automation was something new that I had to learn while working as it was the need for business problems, and now I can think of many applications of this new knowledge I have gained.

I am thankful to Owen True, Juan Tan, Matthew Cochran, MBA, for mentoring me through my internship. I am also thankful to JSOM professors, especially Gaurav Shekhar and Sivya Leventhal.
