Falcon 4G: A Success Story in Realistic Scenarios* Detection through a narrow space

Trials with the Regimiento de Defensa NBQ “Valencia” no 1 – The Spanish Army


Falcon 4G is a powerful long-range active stand-off detector that can detect, identify and measure chemical warfare agents and toxic industrial chemicals using two independent eye-safe pulsed tuneable CO2 lasers at the distance up to 5km. Its patented laser technology is undetectable by laser warning devices, making it an effective tool for military and industrial applications.

This success story highlights specific details from navigating narrow passages with dense vegetation to detecting substances (SF6 and Ammonia) at significant distances.

In the first unique scenario (Pic.1) that seemed challenging at first sight, Falcon 4G excelled. Positioned at a distance of 2556 meters from the release site (tent), Falcon 4G swiftly identified the released SF6 (160 g of SF6 was released) in the demanding surroundings. This successful detection showcased Falcon 4G's prowess in real-world CBRN reconnaissance missions, even in the most confined and densely vegetated spaces.

Transitioning to the second scenario, 0.75 l of 25% concentrate of liquid Ammonia was dispersed within a controlled environment. Despite the seemingly tough obstacles, Falcon 4G once again swiftly detected and identified the Ammonia, proving its reliability in responding to evolving threats.

The third scenario (Pic.2) pushed Falcon 4G's range and adaptability to the limit. Positioned in an open area, the detector successfully identified SF6 released from a vehicle at distances of 100-300 meters. This impressive range of detection highlights Falcon 4G's ability to swiftly pinpoint threats in vast and open spaces.

The precision and reliability of the Falcon 4G make it an indispensable tool in modern CBRN reconnaissance. When mounted on a vehicle, it becomes even more valuable, allowing for real-world reconnaissance in diverse scenarios.

Its ability to detect chemicals, even though narrow spaces, is particularly beneficial in densely built-up areas and thick vegetation. The integration of the detector onto a vehicle enhances its capabilities, ensuring that military and industrial operations are safeguarded effectively.

The versatility of the Falcon 4G (Pic.3), especially in challenging environments, demonstrates its importance in ensuring the safety and security of personnel and assets.
