fake it until?

Today in the train i saw this advertisement. It says:

my Rolex is making vacations at the pawn shop, so that I can afford my vacation in the Caribbean.?And with my next paycheck I’ll release my watch again.

It made me think about all the wrong messages, this add is sending to young people who are still in the process of finding themselves and discovering what they actually want from live. But also, to everyone who’s struggling to segregate themselves of those wrong believes, by assuming they are worth more by being able to consume more.

It is still a big misunderstanding to assume, that standard of living does equal quality of life.

How are we able to overcome this kind of self-destructive thinking?

What kind of values and virtues are important to be taught today?

How do I define myself as a human, apart of position and salary??

What do I actually work for and also important, is it worth it?

It is very interesting how hard in the beginning it can be, to truthfully answer yourself this kind of questions. On the other hand, by doing so and by being honest to yourself, you can explore a refreshing self-awareness, helping you to focus on your real goals in life.
