My Faith, God & Church ???????????????????????????????????????????????

I belong to @faithbuildersinternational Faithbuilders International, a community of non-denominational folks that by and large love the arts.

They worship through singing, ?? plays, performances and literally make church one of the best events of the week. For those who listen to Christian music - it is the original church of Danny Gokey. People there have real talent.

As part of the COVID-19 photography collection, I decided to include a testimony to what appears to be just the 'building', but truly is a community.

The Faithbuilders International community has been online for some time now, via podcasts, YouTube, Instagram and Facebook Live. However the moment is now, that digital worship is a necessity - versus just a convenience.

So many people are suffering, from fear. That suffering comes from change, rapid change. Families are not accustomed to being in such tight quarters, children are attempting to learn from home - or are pushing back against online learning. Unpredented numbers of people are without employment. Financial concerns are causing migraine headaches, panic attacks and others live in fear of if, when and how they may contract the virus COVID-19.

Houses of worship provide a repreive from this. It can be hard and sometimes is intimidating to walk into a new venue where everyone seems to know each other, just to check it out.

The online offerings really do give each and every person, a chance to sample different pastors, preachers, and others that instill positivity, perspective and offer a sense of community outside the one present in one's home.

Check them out. In times of crisis, your spiritual connection, and really reach down and lift you out of any darkness you may be experiencing.

COVID-19 Photography Project Origin ______________________________________

I imagine that everyone during this time is attempting to process the surreal experience of living through COVID-19.

Some are a bit overwhelmed, some in denial, others focus on the economic impact, while yet others are concerned for their family or mourn those they've lost - desperately trying to communicate urgency to the rest.

As I reflected about how I could share, I decided I would do it through storytelling. I'm not a person of medical expertise, I'm not 'an essential worker' - much to the contrary.

In lieu of immediate first responder work, I did what I know how to do - to communicate the experience through one's surroundings and through others.

This, is the first of a robust porfolio of images I will be sharing with you - to allow you to take in what I see and saw directly, just before the state-wide stay-at-home order took effect in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, mid to late March of 2020.

The COVID-19 Editorial Photo Experience – SE Wisconsin.

During mid to late March 2020, I captured images across SE, Wisconsin that communicate either directly or metaphorically the feel of the city, in that moment.

I created a portfolio of images to document and share this unique moment of community. Images were taken downtown, on the north, west, east and south side of Milwaukee. Select images were captured in or near West Allis, Cudahy, Brookfield, Waukesha and along I-94.
