Faithful Children

The Death of Adam (Gen 5:1-5)

This is the written account of Adam’s line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them “man.” When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. Altogether, Adam lived 930 years, and then he died.?

1.????? The descendants of Adam in the line of Seth are mentioned in this chapter. Why is this lineage significant?

2.????? The fact that mankind was created in a blessed and good state is mentioned. Also, the idea that Adam had a son Seth who was like him. Why is this significant? Why are some children obedient and follow in the ways of their parents while others do not?

3.????? Adam and many of his early descendants lived hundreds of years. Adam had children when he was hundreds of years old. The aging process must have been much slower. This indicates that human DNA has probably degraded over time. This is also indicated by the appearance of birth defects, diseases and cancer. How has sin corrupted the natural world?? (Gen 3:17-19)?
