"The story goes back seven years. I was a resident of Kolkata, quite well settled with a suitable job, and a happy family. Under certain unfortunate circumstances, I was sacked by my company with only a month's notice."

I felt helpless, my son was only 3 months old and I still had my financial goals being worked upon.

In 2015, my wife said to me 'Chalo Delhi'. I was not at all prepared for the crazy idea of suddenly shifting to Delhi from Kolkata under such a crucial financial crisis; nevertheless, I had faith in my wife's idea so I did as she demanded.

Being jobless at the age of 32, with just 30,000 cash in hand & an EMI of 15,000, we shifted to Noida and rented a house there. I was working as an HR at a renowned company in Kolkata. However, during my early days to survive in Delhi, I took a job as a Call Centre executive at Pizza Hut( I used to take online orders), where I received a monthly salary of 10,000, through which I managed to pay the rent and fulfilled some other needs of my family( other household expenses).

Moreover, in order to somewhat ease our social pressure, we convinced our parents and other family members that I have been working as an HR Manager in Delhi.

Regardless of the rigorous struggles in the new city, I never gave up on my search for a job in HR. Almost every company rejected me.

Mostly their rejection reasons would be

  • Why did you move to Delhi to search for a job at the age of 32?
  • Why didn't you get a new job in Kolkata itself?

Since most of the jobs in HR positions are region based, they required local residents to handle the local laws and people. I was clueless, shattered. In just two months of living in Delhi, I lost all my money and failed to even get a proper job.

There were days when we had to hold out with just a single meal per day. I was even unsuccessful in arranging a Baby Shower for my child. I felt devastated, with every rejection my hope began to fade away.

However, I truly believed in the quote - Where there is a will, there is a way.

I was stubborn enough to never give up, I had complete faith in my skills and abilities, and I was confident enough that I was best suited for the job of an HR. Eventually, one fine day, I received an email for a walk-in interview at a consultancy for the position of HR Executive.

I thought to myself that since they weren't offering a better salary package than my previous job in Kolkata, I shouldn't have opted for it. However, something triggered me to just go for it without considering the results.

Wish to know how it went? Well, I excelled in the interview. The Director of the startup firm was so impressed that he offered me the position of HR manager instead of Executive and a much higher salary package. My happiness had no limits.

Thereafter, I completed my home loan of 20 years tenure in just 6 years. As time passed by, I bought a new apartment and car in Delhi. Never had I ever imagined such a life for me and my family. To this day, I feel grateful to my wife for pushing me towards accomplishing the most unexpected yet happiest life.

As the saying goes, success is never fulfilling without battling through the worst days. Age is indeed just a number when your perseverance and motivation are strong enough to make your dreams come true.

Here's a beautiful manifestation practice by Dinesh:

"From my very first day at Delhi NCR, I faked my mind with the belief that I am already working as an HR manager; that foolish thought built?tremendous confidence in me which thereafter worked magically in making my HR interview successful and I finally got my dream job."

Dinesh's message to all those who are on the verge of giving up

Life will be full of hardships, be strong enough to never give up. No excuse or difficulty would be so strong to shatter your determination and goals.
