Faith
FAITH is defined as a belief with strong conviction, confidence or trust in a person or thing for which there may be no tangible proof. The complete trust, confidence, reliance, or devotion in something we do not see. Faith is the opposite of doubt.
Recently, I read a Business Insider article by Suzanne Evans who wrote, “When growing your business, it’s not about LUCK, it’s about FAITH.” She talked about how we have faith every day and how “90% of our daily activities are solely based on our faith and belief. If we had no faith, we wouldn’t even be able to get out of bed in the morning. Faith fuels our very being.” For instance, we have FAITH that our car will start in the morning or that the plane we board will fly.
Personally, my faith is being challenged with my husbands’ upcoming heart bypass surgery. He has 5 blockages and his surgery is early morning on October 29th. I’m asking all my friends and colleagues to pray for Richard because having faith and trusting everything will be ok is about the only thing I CAN do. I can learn about what’s going to happen, help my husband be prepared and be ready to handle whatever comes in the future. I have to have FAITH in the skill of the surgeon and that everything will be alright.
I find the same true in business. We learn as much as we can about our chosen profession, prepare for the job ahead and look forward to what’s next. Sometimes the task seems impossible. We don’t know how it will happen, but you know it will. We have FAITH.
Suzanne Evans said it best, “Faith is tested when things get hard, when we are afraid, and when our perfectly laid plans aren’t so perfect. True faith is continued belief in the face of adversity. True faith is when you have every single reason in the world to have NO faith, especially in business.”
