FAITH-INTELLIGENT DIPLOMACY

A successful diplomat in the 2020s must navigate diversity, especially religious diversity where hearts and minds have the deepest expression. Human beings are endowed with deep spirituality that conditions us to believe in something. For us Christians, we take heed of the teachings of Jesus Christ, our Lord, God and Master: " "Render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and unto God the things that are God's" ..Mark 12:17. For a diplomat who is not religious, it is not only pragmatic and good diplomacy to understand the secular world in which a diplomat serves; it is very necessary to understand the realm of belief which colors cultures and all human endeavors. War and peace, domains in which the work of diplomats is set, will be influence by pastors, Imams, Rabbis and Buddhist monks, as much as it will be shaped by politicians, generals, businessmen and unhappy populations.
