Faith, Purpose and Business: How God Redirected My Journey!

For many years, I chased what most entrepreneurs are taught to pursue: growth, success, and profits. I was driven by ambition and the need to succeed in a competitive business world. Along the way, though, I lost sight of something much more important - my faith and purpose why I have been put on this earth!

When I reflect on my past, I realize just how far I had strayed from the calling God had placed on my heart. I became consumed by the pursuit of success, and eventually, it led me to a place of emptiness, loss and frustration.

"But as I’ve come to realize, God has a way of redirecting our paths when we need it most?"

My journey back to Him has transformed not only my life but also the way I approach my career in the business world. And now, I see more clearly than ever that my faith, not success, is the most powerful asset I possess. Living for God and not being ashamed of it in business has continuously amazed me, revealing lessons, opportunities and successes that I never could have imagined.

The False Idol of Success

In the early stages of my career, I continually fell into the trap that many entrepreneurs do - believing that success is defined by financial gain. I was fixated on increasing revenue, expanding my ventures and building a reputation as a successful businessman. I measured my worth by how much money we were making and how quickly I was rising in the business world. But the more I focused on these goals, the more I lost and felt a sense of disconnection, both spiritually and personally.

I lost my way, more than once. Although I always wanted to create jobs, employ people who needed work and build something to be proud of, I never had any clear purpose in life. And, eventually, everything came crashing down.

My perceived purpose was buried under the weight of financial ambition. I had stopped focusing on the real reason I started in the first place - to make a positive difference in people’s lives - and instead focused on what other people & stakeholders expected of me.

There’s a quote that speaks to this very experience:

"Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success. If you love what you are doing, you will be successful."

Looking back, I realize that my pursuit of success without happiness or purpose was doomed to fail. When you live out of alignment with your true calling, no amount of money or success can bring real fulfillment.

The Crash That Changed Everything

Then, everything came crashing down again. I can recall the exact moment and I remember when it became evident that all the success I had worked so hard to build was slipping through my fingers. The business I had counted on and helped build came tumbling down, relationships began to fray and most painfully, I felt a growing emptiness that no amount of money could fill.

In those moments of deep frustration, I had to confront the truth: "I had been living for the wrong things."

This crash was more than just a business failure - it was a spiritual reckoning. I had put ambition, money and success at the center of my life, and in doing so, I had lost my sense of purpose.

I realized that I needed to turn back to the One who had always been my guide - God.

"It is only when we are lost that we can truly find ourselves," and I was lost, not just in our business, but in my soul. This realization humbled me and pushed me to seek God's guidance, not just in my personal life, but in business as well.

Rediscovering Faith and Purpose

Turning back to God was the most important decision I could have made. It didn’t fix everything overnight, but it re-centered me. I began to remember the purpose that God had placed in my heart - to help build a better life for others, especially the disenfranchised, the poor and those who society overlooks. That sense of purpose was reignited, and with it, came a deeper understanding of what true success means.

It’s not about how much money you make, but about how many lives you positively impact! It's about joining hands and being part of people who share the same beliefs and vision.

"Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it."

Once I rediscovered my purpose and found a home with like-minded people, I began to rebuild myself from the inside out. My focus shifted from financial gain to meaningful impact. I began to see myself as a tool to serve God’s mission on Earth - to uplift the less fortunate, to empower the disenfranchised, and to use the resources and skills I had been blessed with to make a real difference.

This shift in perspective changed my life. When I put God first, everything else began to fall into place. I no longer feel the pressure to succeed in worldly terms because I know I am now living out my divine purpose.

Lessons Learned Along the Way

The journey back to living and being part of a God centered business, has taught me countless lessons, many of which I want to share with you because I believe they can transform your approach to work and life.

1. Purpose is Greater Than Profit

One of the most profound lessons I’ve learned is that when you focus on purpose, success will follow. When my focus was solely on making money, I constantly felt empty, no matter how much I made. But when I shifted my focus to serving others and fulfilling God’s purpose for my life, so many blessings came naturally. And more than that, I feel a deeper sense of joy and fulfillment.

"The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away."

2. Faith is a Business Asset

At one point, I was hesitant to integrate my faith openly into my career for fear of how it would be perceived. But once I embraced my faith as the foundation of my work, I found that it became my greatest asset. It gives me a sense of clarity and direction that business strategy alone could never provide. God continues to opens doors that I could never have opened on my own and connects me with people who share my vision and values.

"For we walk by faith, not by sight." (2 Corinthians 5:7)

3. Success Is a Journey, Not a Destination

For too long, I believed that success was a destination - something I would eventually reach if I just worked hard enough. But I’ve come to realize that success is a journey. It’s about living each day with purpose, faith and integrity. It’s about the small, daily decisions to live out your values and make a positive impact in the lives of others.

"Success is not final, failure is not fatal: It is the courage to continue that counts."

This mindset shift allows me to find joy in the journey, rather than constantly striving for the next achievement.

4. Impact Over Income

Another key lesson I’ve learned is that real success isn’t measured by your income - it’s measured by your impact. How many lives have you touched? How many people have you helped? That’s the true measure of success in God’s eyes. And what I’ve found is that when you prioritize impact, success naturally follows. God provides for those who seek to do His will.

"You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who can never repay you."

Faith in Action: Serving the Disenfranchised

One of the greatest blessings of realigning my career life with my faith has been the opportunity to use my resources and platform to serve those who need it most. Whether it’s creating jobs for the unemployed, providing training for young entrepreneurs, or supporting community initiatives, I find immense joy in using my experience and skills to uplift others.

My faith has since guided me to help create opportunities and initiatives that focus on helping the disenfranchised and poor in society - those who have been overlooked by traditional systems. This, I believe, is the work God has called me to do, and it brings a sense of fulfillment that money alone could never provide.

God has shown me that when we are faithful to His calling, He blesses our efforts in ways we could never imagine. I’ve seen opportunities arise that I never could have orchestrated on my own, and I see lives being transformed daily by the work we’ve been able to do through business.

"The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others."

Unashamed of My Faith

In the past, I might have worried about how openly expressing my faith would be received in the business world. But now, I wear my faith proudly. I’m not ashamed of it, because I know that it is the very thing that has brought me back to living a life with purpose!

God is the reason for every success I’ve experienced in the past and will in the future. He is the one guiding me toward a brighter future. Being open about my faith, allows me to connect with people on a deeper level, and it brings new opportunities that align with my purpose. There’s a power in not being ashamed of your faith, and I’ve seen firsthand how God moves when we are bold enough to live out our beliefs in every area of our lives.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes." (Romans 1:16)

Conclusion: The Power of Living for God

My journey has taught me that when we live for God and not for ourselves, everything changes. Life becomes less about what we can gain and more about what we can give. Business becomes less about profit margins and more about purpose. And success is no longer measured by the world’s standards but by the impact we have on the lives of others.

Living for God in business continues to amaze me. It has brought me peace, fulfillment, and opportunities that I never could have imagined. Most importantly, it has reconnected me with my true purpose:

"To serve God by helping build a better life for those who need it most."

"When we live for God, your business transforms from a pursuit of profit into a mission of purpose, where success is defined by the impact you create in the lives of others."

Call to Action:

"Join me on this journey of purpose-driven success. Let’s redefine what it means to thrive in business by prioritizing service over self. Together, we can build a better future for those who need it most."

God bless you!
