Personal Development - Neuroplasticity of the brain. It's a real thing. When we form new habits, new neuro-pathways are dug into the brain. Construction takes a while - about 90 days - before a new habit becomes a normal part of our day. The interesting thing is that your old habits are like dried riverbeds. They are still there but not used which explains why we can and do often return to old habits without deliberate and conscious effort to stay on the new course.

Professional Mastery - While leaders are building businesses, the world continues to be in a constant state of change and increasing complexity. The problem is many business leaders think that their years of experience have qualified them as permanent experts in their business and in their industry. Over time a leader's competence is measured by their ability to handle this ever-increasing complexity. This means past experience becomes less relevant and valuable against the future steep growth curve of change and complexity. This is a hard fact to embrace when a leader has been successful most of their professional lives. What worked for us 5, 10, or 20+ years ago often does not today.

Spiritual Maturity - Today is the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

In Paris, the Basilica of the Sacred Heart (Sacré-C?ur) hosts 27,000 tourists a day. Many of them celebrate a secular echo of the Catholic sacraments offered inside. They come to the steps of the basilica and turn their backs on Christ inside at Holy Mass and in the monstrance at Eucharistic Adoration throughout the day in order to adore the created world - the beautiful view of the Paris landscape below.

Lovers place locks on the fences around Sacré-C?ur to "permanently" proclaim their love rather than proclaiming their love through the sacrament of marriage inside the basilica. So close, but yet so far.
