Personal Development - According to the authors of the prophetic book, Escaping Endless Adolescence - How We Can Help Our Teenagers Grow Up Before They Grow Old - published in 2009, parents need to help their teens by:

• Shifting their mindset from 100% consumer to a positive contributor to society. (Catholic social teaching pillar of contributing to the common good)
• Providing them with honest feedback - through constructive criticism. They need to know how the larger world perceives them. (you help them develop their emotional intelligence)
• Giving them opportunities to interact with adults (including parents) on a more mature level.
• Challenging them with meaningful work to do and letting them know they are needed in doing that work. (Catholic social teaching pillar of solidarity)
• Doing fewer things for teens that they can do for themselves. (Catholic social teaching pillar of subsidiarity)

Can this work with your employees?

Professional Mastery - W. Edwards Demming said that as more nodes were added to a system, there is an increased probability that the system would fail. In English - the more handoffs in a process at work whether it be from one person to another or one piece of software integrated to another, the greater chance that mistakes, gaps (no one doing a job thinking someone else has it covered), overlaps (two or more people doing the same job) or complete failure in the process, would happen. (sorry Southwest, as much as I like you, too many nodes over the holiday season caused your issues.....)
