Faisal Baseem – the First Officer who chose challenges and dynamics
GetJet Airlines
GetJet Airlines - EASA-approved, IOSA-registered airline, providing ACMI and Charter flights worldwide.
Faisal Baseem could have become a successful surgeon or a lawyer, but his passion for challenges led him to the world of aviation. He now flies for GetJet Airlines and plans to become an instructor. Faisal shared his thoughts about aviation in his life and what it is like being a GetJet Airlines pilot.
Do you remember your very first flight as a passenger and as a pilot?
I remember both experiences very well. During my first flight as a passenger, I was particularly interested in the technology behind it.?
My first flight as a pilot was as exciting, but this time I knew how aircraft technology and aerodynamics worked, and I was at the controls.
What led you to GetJet Airlines, Lithuanian ACMI airline? How long have you been part of GetJet Airlines??
I wanted new challenges and decided to look for work at ACMI airline. GetJet Airlines had outstanding recommendations, so I decided to apply and joined the company in February 2020.
What makes you most proud of in your career so far?
Sometimes I surprise myself by how much perseverance I have. I get extra motivation when I think about hard work towards completing my flight school training with top marks.?
I have always set my goals high and worked hard to achieve them. Currently I am working towards becoming a captain and an instructor next.
What do you enjoy most about working at GetJet Airlines?
Working for a charter or ACMI company has many advantages. You can gain a lot of experience in a very short time because you work worldwide.
In addition to flying, you learn a lot about the countries you visit, different lifestyles, and cultures. After many years in aviation, you have enough experience to write a book about it.
What inspires you most in aviation?
Aviation is very special in many aspects, and it cannot be compared to any other industry. Just imagine its complexity - thousands of players globally collaborate to achieve one goal - to transport millions of people around the world every day and night.?
You might be sitting on the couch in the evening, and the next day you might be on the other side of the world enjoying your drink in a café.
Is it difficult to find balance in life when you're a pilot?
The joy of flying makes up for many deficits in other areas. Sometimes you might face difficulties maintaining a healthy diet and fitness routine. It usually happens when you are stationed in different countries and work in different time zones.
What does your leisure time look like? Do you have hobbies?
Besides work, I do a lot of sports, kickboxing, and fitness. I'm still very interested in medicine and when I have some spare time, I read books or watch educational videos online.?
Which destination is your next flight planned to?
If you like aviation and your job, you enjoy every base and take it as you are assigned. My next trip will probably be to Africa or Asia.
