At that time, they were artists that I could not accept,

The part melody of "The one that I want (You're the one that I want) Hu Hu Hu" is reminiscent of yodeling, just American ! Carefree, exhilarating ! !
An Absolutely unthinkable song for us Japanese.
Even now, this song has not faded in my heart.
Moreover, I still can't divide the lyrics well and I can't sing fluently.
"ZA-WA-ZA-RA-WON (YU-AH～ZA-WA-ZA-WON)"
The only way to pronounce it is by writing it in solid KATAKANA English or I can't keep up.
Even in later years live, she arranged for stage and invited John Travolta as the guests, and performed a brilliant musical style show.

1980, a series of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) collaboration including "Xanadu", I think it had some impact on Tamio Okuda and Puffy of his Family.
I'm sure that "Asian Innocence" is a song with a considerable amount of motifs from the world view, song concept, and word selection of "All Over The World".
Tamio Okuda has a reputation as a THE BEATLES fan, and THE?BEATLES fans including me almost no one dislikes "Tears for Fears", "Oasis", and "ELO".
Although it had a great impact on others, It seems that it did not suit her own direction, she never leaned into this musical trend.
A point worthy of special mention is that there is horribly minor movie "TOOMORROW" (1970), both of them are created with a vaguely similar SF touch setting.
Maybe I think that they were going to re-release TOOMORROW if XANADU would hit but XANADU failed in box-office revenue side so it's still minor even now, I can't throw away this possibility.
And then, I took notice of where she would go next, but
it was "Physical (1981)".
Unfortunately, I thought that "She had already abandoned herself".
In my mind, her career ended in 1980 with "Suspended In Time".

Music composition is also rarely seen in Rock-oriented cases,

当時の私には相見えないアーティスト達だったが、
その中でLPの帯に記された「妖精」の文字に目が留まった。
※ 恐らく「水の中の妖精（COME ON OVER）」だったと思われる。
ジャケ写の雰囲気は大人びていておおよそ妖精の雰囲気ではなかった。
「ま、ま、聞いてみるか。」
と兄のものにも関わらず、勝手に我が物顔で当ったり前のように針を落とした。
「声は確かに子供っぽいな。」
がファーストインプレッションだった。
今になって当時の印象をもう少し補足すると、
「少女っぽい地声、ハイの時に独特な艶（つや）があって、
歌唱力はコーラス出身のためレベルが高く、
※ クリフ?リチャードのバックコーラスでツアーを回った経験があり、
クリフ?リチャード一門（または元カノ）出身である。
当時は大物アーティストの一門に抜擢されて
ソロデビューというのはかなりメジャーな流れであった。
プリンス一門の バングルス、シーラ?E
エリック?クラプトン一門のシェリル?クロウ、
吉田 拓郎一門の浜田 省吾等々。
（声を）張ってロングトーンでのビブラートが得意。

本人にとっても自信があったスキルと思われる。
声の出し初めにハスキーヴォイスを絡めることが出来る。
ファルセット（裏声）でも音の強さが極端に落ちず＝か細くならず 聴き手に届く。
"T" の発音に独特の”ツっ”と聴こえる余韻が残る。
※ 同様に、"CE" の発音で”スっ”と聴こえる
余韻を駆使していたのは、A-Ha のモートン?ハケットである。
※ 因みに彼女のキャリアで最も低い音程は恐らく
「Have You Never Been Mellow」
の I was と you の間の "Like" の箇所で、
「お化けが出るぞぉ～」
と子供を怖がらせる時のような発音は耳に残り易く、
身内からも評価が低かったのか作曲担当もこれ以外にこの音程は使っていない。」
といったところだった。
聴き易い＝耳心地が良い 楽曲が多かったのでかなり何度も聞いていたら、
違う魅力に気付いた。
「囁（ささや）きヴォイス」
である。
この「妖精」というより「小悪魔」の要素に
ハマるファンも相当数いたことだろう。

容姿に触れることは昨今タブー視されるが、
当時の事実を伝えるためと御容赦頂き、
不快に思う方はこのブロックは読み飛ばして頂きたい。
1974年頃頬の上部が少しふっくらしていたが、
1976年のジャパンツアーの頃には頬がスッキリして
日本での人気も最盛期を迎えていたと思われる。
歯並びが異常に良く笑顔も売りにして機会を増やしているのかと思いきや、
様々なインタビューやMCでも話しながら笑い出す習慣のようで、
ほぼセンテンス毎（ごと）にジョークを差し込んで話しているように感じた。
「成る程、この人は作ってるのではなく、根っから明るいんだ。」
と腑に落ち、また人柄として好印象に転じた次第である。
カレン?カーペンター（カーペンターズ）と仲が良いと共に
体型を憧れられていたという逸話もある。
1980年デビューの松田聖子の
「聖子ちゃんカット」
と呼ばれるヘアスタイルは日本全土で一世を風靡したが、
あれは1976年頃の彼女を真似たものだと今尚思っている。
彼女もまた、1980年デビューのシーナ?イーストン
を意識したか髪型がそっくりな時期がある。
※ 「007 ユア アイズ オンリー」では
主題歌シーンにシーナ?イーストン本人が 007シリーズとしては初めて起用され、
記者から理由を問われた制作サイドが、
「容姿が良かったから。」
と気持ちいいくらい単純明快な回答だったことに、
驚くと共に強いインパクトを受け忘れることが出来ない逸話となっている。

エンディング前の楽曲
「You're The One That I Want」
は彼女の楽曲の中で私のベスト２なのだ。
勿論映画の内容とも相まっての効果があろうかと思うが、
※ も?っ、映画内で起きる大問題の平和なこと平和なこと。
ケネス?ブラナーの「から騒ぎ（Much Ado About Nothing）」
でも思ったが、自身の現実社会に於ける深刻さから逃避させてくれる世界観、
こうした映画は精神安定剤として大きく社会に貢献しているといえよう。
無力な私だが、ウクライナの方々にも早くこうした映画を
心置きなく観れる日が訪れるのを祈るばかりである。

のパートメロディーはヨーデルを彷彿させ
まさにアメリカン！ノー天気、爽快感！！
絶対に我々日本人では思いつかない出来だ、
今だこの楽曲は私の中で色褪せていない。
しかも未だに上手く歌詞の譜割りが出来ず流暢に歌えない。
「ザワザラウォン（ユアーザワザウォン）」
とベッタベタの日本語表記して発音するしかろれつがついていかない。
晩年のライブでもステージ用アレンジをしてミュージカル風に
トラボルタをゲストに魅せていたのが今となっては涙ものである。
1980年「ザナドゥ」をはじめとする
一連のELO（Electric Light Orchestra）コラボは、
奥田 民生と一門のパフィに大きく影響したと思う。
「アジアの純真」は
「All Over The World」
の世界観や楽曲コンセプト、ワード選択に至る迄
相当量の「モチーフ」による楽曲と思われる。
ビートルズ好きとして奥田 民生は定評があり、ビートルズ好きは私を含め
「ティアズ フォー フィアーズ」
「オアシス」
「ELO」
を嫌う者が殆どいないのである。
他への影響は大きかったものの、自身の方向性には合わなかったとみえ、
彼女がこの楽曲傾向に傾倒することはなかった。
特筆すべきは、恐ろしくマイナーな映画で
「TOOMORROW」（1970年）
があるのだが、何となく同じようなSFタッチで創られていることである。
ヒットしたら再リリースつもりだったが
コケたので今尚マイナーなまま、の可能性が捨てきれない。
さて、その後どこへ向かうのかと思ったら、
1981年「Physical」
であったところで
「最早彼女自身を捨てたな。」
と思ってしまい、私の中で彼女のキャリアは
1980年「Suspended In Time」で終わってしまった。

このくらいベストがあると、彼女のオムニバスだけで聴き続けられる。
楽曲編成もロック志向の構成では殆どみられない、
１番、２番、終わり、
と短めでくどくなく、親交のあったミュジシャンも
カーペンターズ、ビージーズと稀代のメロディーメーカー、
自ずと聴き易い＝無理のない コード進行の楽曲が（当時は）多い。
また、歌詞乗りが良く、

この辺りは何年経っても歌えるのが「歌力」だとつくづく思う。
彼女のキャリアで最も悲劇だと思うのは、
数々の大物とデュエットしたにもかかわらず、
ほぼ全員が彼女の声と融合しなかったことである。
或る意味彼女の声が「唯一無二」であったことの証明かもしれないが。
※ ソロ前のクリフ?リチャードだけは
彼用にコーラス採用したので、
当然融合したハーモニーとして聴ける。
これが原因か否かは不明だが、
遺産として残っているスマッシュヒットのデュエット曲が無い。
2021.10.14. のインスタグラムでこう語りつつ???
やはりいつも通り笑い出した。

一人一人全員に心からお礼がしたいのだけど、
私にはそんなに時間が残されていないと思うの、

勿論最後はちゃんとした締めの言葉を言っているが、
自分のことで深刻な雰囲気になって欲しくない、
という強い意思が感じられとても切ないメッセージとなった。
ノーベル賞受賞者やシンガーの一族として生まれ、
生まれたイギリス、
アイデンティティを培ったオーストラリアでは勿論のこと、
国交の懸け橋となったことに対し、
日本からも勲章が贈られている。
1975年 グラミー賞受賞（その他カテゴリー別で複数回受賞）
最後迄エンターテイナーだった彼女の意思を尊重し、
「妖精は舞い降り、そしてフッと消えた」
とだけ記しておきたい。
