Taking the tech out, we are human beings and we cannot remove bias - it's built into us, and taught and baked into our motherboard from the day we are born. I never tell anyone to remove bias, but to be a champion of catching others, and themselves out when they take bias into an interview, a conversation, a panel discussion etc - ultimately, giving everyone the chance to explain and flourish. Don't remove bias, just mitigate the negatively impactful bias that you take into everything, especially interviews!

Algorithms can also be biased by their design and function. For example, if an algorithm relies on historical data to make predictions about future performance, it will inevitably be biased against underrepresented groups who have been historically disadvantaged in the workforce. Additionally, if an algorithm relies on input from humans (such as job descriptions or resume keywords etc), it is subject to all of the same biases that plague traditional hiring practices!
