Fair Well

I have been in an inspiring relationship over most of my life.?This week that will be coming to an end.?It is what I have worked and prepared for since I began my first job at the Dairy Queen.?This week, I am retiring.

?As you can imagine I have been reflective over the last few weeks.?My emotions have been a mixture of highs and lows, and my mind is filled with so many questions.?I wonder if I will be bored??Will I find my balance in life??Will I maintain a healthy level of self respect??Will I drive my husband crazy by being home all the time???

?Today is the last Monday of my last full work week. I am full of gratitude, peace and awe.?There is a quote that sticks out to me, fully representing my experience and provides some advice to those still in the workforce.??

“Be with someone who motivates you to do better in life because relationships are more than just falling in love.?It’s about inspiring each other to become better versions of yourselves day in and day out.”

Yes, that quote is slanted towards personal relationships,?however, I can not think of a relationship that is more consuming than your relationship with work. Being passionate about what you do is at the center of a great work life.?Also, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the incredible impact of leaders, peers, clients and co-workers have had on me through the years.?Those relationships are so important to your core experience that I would hazard to say, are even more important than your passion for your job.

A work relationship is very complex, you can love the job, but not love your co-workers.?You can love your co-workers and not love your job. I have experienced both of these.?So what is the best work relationship???

It is the one that motivates you, inspires you and helps you to become the best version of you.??

I am so grateful for the years at Promises and the behavioral health treatment industry.?I have been forever changed by the passion of the people who work in this industry.?I have truly learned to lead from a place of hope, while also learning that acceptance without judgment leads to open doors.??

This Monday, join me in the joy of knowing that every stage in your life is an open door and the times before have helped to grow you into the person that is the best version of yourself.???

With Love and Gratitude,?

Kathy
