Last week I had the pleasure of representing Unilever at the White House to discuss the Fair Chance Business Pledge. This pledge will make it is easier for returning citizens to secure employment opportunities by conducting criminal background checks post offer. This simple step ensures the candidate is judged solely on their merit and not on their history. In the end, it is still the employers choice to extend the offer, but this pledge can expand the employment pool and help returning citizens - a win win. These sorts of initiatives are core to the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan and to the Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Global Goals for Sustainable Development

8 年Awesome post - really excited to see Unilever behind such a socially progressive initiative.

8 年Sounds nice, but what about the legions of middle aged workers who have no criminal record who have been fired by big companies for no other reason than their age (for example, me, who was fired at age 58. I still have my mortgage and college tuition to somehow pay). Also, sounds like another way for big corporations to get cheap labor - I'm just saying.
