Failure of US / UK moral standing & UN Structural Flaws creating chaos and disorder in the World

US #Support for #Israel is #destroying not only US moral and ethical standing but also #destroyed #UNO capability to solve critical problems. The power imbalance in the UN has deadlocked the governing UN bodies: the 15-member Security Council (SC) and the 193-member General Assembly (GA). All member states of the UN have an equal vote in the GA. In contrast, the SC’s?five permanent members ?have the power to veto any resolution, while the ten remaining members can vote but have no veto power. Therefore, a single UN member state can defeat the will of the vast majority of states.

Kashmir dispute and Palestine issue are still pending since 1948 and in spite of more than seventy years these issues are still active and thousands of people are being killed regularly. These two long standing disputes were created by British Empire when it was crumbling and coming to an end after WW2. Let’s explore few facts about Palestine dispute which clearly shows how disgraceful and shameful these powers are by not solving this issue on morality.

As of 21 June 2024,?146 ?(75.6%) of the 193?member states of the United Nations ?have recognized the State of Palestine as sovereign over both?West Bank ?and the?Gaza Strip .

- The United Nations has passed numerous resolutions concerning Israel, particularly in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

- The United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) has condemned Israel in 45 resolutions as of 2013.

- From 1967 to 1989, the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) adopted 131 resolutions directly addressing the Arab–Israeli conflict.

- The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) has adopted resolutions stating that Israel's strategic relationship with the United States encourages aggressive and expansionist policies in the Israeli–Palestinian conflict.

- A recent UNGA resolution, based on an advisory opinion by the International Court of Justice (ICJ), demands that Israel end its "unlawful presence" in the Occupied Palestinian Territory and comply with international law.

- The ICJ advisory opinion declared Israel’s continued presence in the Occupied Palestinian Territory as "unlawful" and stated that all States are under an obligation not to recognize the decades-long occupation.

- The UNGA resolution calls for Israel to withdraw its military forces, cease all new settlement activity, evacuate all settlers from occupied land, and dismantle parts of the separation wall constructed inside the occupied West Bank.

- The resolution also demands reparations for the damage caused by the occupation and the return of land and assets seized since 1967.

- An international conference is to be convened to implement UN resolutions pertaining to the question of Palestine and the two-State solution.

More than 46,000 people have died so far in Palestine in last 10 months. Out of these 23,000 are women and children. Now guns are turning towards Lebanon and Iran. Future of the world now belongs to few fanatic people who believe they are the chosen ones. Almost every western country people are protesting against this extremism and madness but so called leaders of the modern world are spineless to act to save humanity. War has never created lasting peace but negotiated settlement has and I wish and pray common sense prevail which seems to be non-existence for the time being. ?
