“The failure made me free from everything that is not essential. I stopped pretending that I was anything other than who I am and so I began to focus my energy on finishing things that had meaning for me.”
Don’t tell me that you don’t know J.K Rowling and her books? Her books have sold over 400 million copies. But, not many of us know that she had been very unhappy with a failed marriage. She remained unemployed and yet cared a child.
She is known for her philanthropic activities, sponsoring many charitable foundations. The idea of the story the “little wizard” came as a spark and in 1990, she wrote the first manuscript using a typewriter.
She presented her work to 12 publishers in 1995. Eventually, all publishers rejected her story.
Bloomsbury offered the possibility of collaboration and in 1999 they launched the first book – “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. She is currently one of the 20 richest women in Britain.
