Failure and loss are inevitable
Let Go Of The Myth That Everything Happens For A Reason…
The actual truth is, its complete horseshit. The vast majority of things that happen do so for no reason whatsoever. The only things that happen for a reason are things that are made to happen with future intent.
I lit this pile of charcoal on fire, so the pile of charcoal is on fire, that happened, and it happened for a reason — I wanted to cook some hamburgers.
The vast majority of the time people say this though, they’re offering a platitude about an event that happened for no reason at all, often a negative or possibly tragic one. It’s meant to say “Some good will come of this.”
The thing is…If that’s what you mean, say that. It’s a lot closer to the truth, especially if you say “may” or “could
A I look at people who I admire most--the ones who are truly successful--and consider how they live their lives, I find that the notion of there being a reason for every loss and failure is something they patently reject as a way to pawn off the responsibility of making hard choices about how they choose to live their lives.
In fact in nearly every case these same people have overcome tragedy and pain that would make most people curl up into a permanent fetal position.?
The fact is that we've colloquial zed the notion of there being a reason for everything to the point of absurdity.
?It's not that "reason" is completely absent from our lives, or that it should be, but that we use it as a crutch for avoiding growth and often look for it in all the wrong places; a higher power, fate, a preordained script for our life, a greater purpose, or some omnipotent force of the universe that knows what's best for us.
What if it's none of the above??
I get that we use the phrase?to offer comfort by giving meaning to events that often seem to be without any conceivable reason.?

Thank you?...?Everything happens for a reason’ is a positive thought. It keeps us away from taking drastic steps. It keeps us calmer and helps us think better in bad situations.
People keep saying, “Be positive and positive things will happen to you!”
Why do they say it?
Simply because, positive thoughts keep our mind calm, we process things quicker, and thus take better decisions
So practically, I DO think we must go by this thought in extreme situations. More so, in the situations which ARE NOT IN OUR CONTROL anymore.
However, in general, I believe in not thinking over this question at all. If you enjoy the journey and find yourself growing through the journey, this won’t be a very important question.
Most people lack perseverance and consistency. They either give up on one of the two – the passion or the job/education. And then they believe everything happens for a reason, remain hopeful for a magic in future, and then that hope shrinks over time and life becomes monotonous, miserable, a painful experience
So do not think a lot over this question. Chase your dreams confidently. Give your best. And if at all everything really gets out of your control, out of your power, even after you’ve given your best - then it has happened for a reason.
Do you want to add a word or two?....
Only then it is right to believe that god has better plans for you. Otherwise, not giving your best and believing that you couldn’t get your dream for a reason – is funny.
I believe all living beings have been given enough power and enough resources to be able to do extremely good in at least one field. If you’ve given your best and yet couldn’t achieve it, then it just means something else is good for you.
?And this was also needed for you, to be able to deserve that thing. Dreams have emotional needs too. Psychological needs too. Not just talent and hard work.
And I’ve observed that failures, betrayals, satisfy those needs that are required. So keep positive, take time to recover, shed some tears, but always find yourself working on something that excites you, at least one hour of the day
Your comments........?
When a person buys you a coffee at the café out of the kindness of their heart, does that serve a higher reason or is it just a small stroke of luck when you notice you forgot your wallet?
When you are down on your luck, out of money, and find a random check in the mail as payback for something you did years ago, does that have a reason or is that just coincidence?
When you go on vacation with one book and as you read it that book explains to you everything you’ve done wrong, why you did and how you can make it better to the point where you feel the author must have watched you behind your back; can that be just mere chance or was there some plan in place?
The truth is: No one can know for sure.
Every smile you get, every person you interact with and every little thing you do can be part of a bigger plan that you can’t see, sure!
Or it could all be life unfolding completely randomly without a guideline.
Usually, those who believe everything happens for a reason can find a reason in everything they do and in everything that happens to them.
And, usually, those who do not believe that everything happens for a reason can blame it all on luck and chance.
And neither one of them will ever know who was right.

3 年I think for shortcomings it is comforting to say, "everything happens for a reason," rather than take accountability. Good debate topic!

3 年You get to choose what to believe. Since no one can definitely prove one thing or the other to be right, you are free to believe whatever you want. If it helps you and empowers you to believe that everything happens for a reason, then do so! Find the reason in the big things and the little things, in the good and the bad, because the reason you find may be the true reason that exists. And if it helps you to believe that everything is random chance or luck, then do that too! Blame it all on luck, circumstance and fortune and misfortune, because it may all just be random chance. Believe what makes you feel better and what empowers you. Personally, I have had too many experiences that, to me, showed me that things happen for a reason. Whether that is because I chose to see the reason in those things or because they actually had a reason doesn’t matter as it made me feel great. So believe what you want to believe. Regardless of whether you’re right or wrong in the end.
