Many of life’s failures are people who did not realise how close they were to success when they gave up – Thomas A. Edison
Failure is a terrifying word for most people. Most people associate failure with defeat. No one wants to be associated with failure. Instead, everyone wants success.
Failure can be defined as the act of not accomplishing something desired. Remember failure is always assured and undeniable for everyone to experience. Failure can be too challenging for many people to deal with. You have to learn from them and develop a better strategy to deal with failure. But those who overcome failures, succeed eventually.
Examples of people who faced failure at some point in their life and later emerge successfully; Thomas Edison, Oprah Winfrey, Steve Jobs, Michael Jordan, Walt Disney, etc. They all had the same characteristics that are they always learned something new and useful every time they failed. Also, they acknowledge their failure that came about by taking chances.
For instance, Thomas Edison once said “I have not failed. I’ve found 10,000 ways that won’t work’. This was Edison’s attitude to failure while inventing the light bulb. Therefore, this the same mindset that you should have to battle failure.
To overcome you need to have the right mindset. Remember, you have the power to control how you act towards anything. With the wrong mindset, you will see failure as the end or have a negative perspective. All these assumptions about failure are not true. So, to have a different perspective towards failure simply means change your mindset and start seeing failure as your path to success. You need to know that when you fail, that’s’ when you learn and grow. Also, failure will propel from your comfort zone and motivate you to act big.
Don’t be intimidated when you fail in anything. Instead, use failure to be your teacher. This teacher will sometimes be hard on you but in the long run, you will develop skills that you will be able to use in the future to deal with failure when it arises. Absorb failure to be part of your life then find out how you can learn from it. Always put efforts to deal with the failure adequately. You need to build up a resistance to failure in your life to be able to propel you past it.
There is always something good that comes out after dealing with failure appropriately. The skills learned to use them every time to fight any challenge that attacks you. Once knockdown, rise again strongly and march confidently to your success.
Note, an action taken which leads to failure is better than not taking any step at all. Failure is always the path to success so how you handle it will determine the results you will get.
Our greatest weakness lies in giving up. The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time -Thomas Edison
