Failover Clustering

Dear Friends,

Today we are going to create the Failover cluster to increase the availability and scalability of clustered roles

Step 1: Install Failover Clustering feature on all nodes

  • Open Server Manager on each node
  • Click on Manage and select Add Roles and Features
  • Select the Failover Clustering feature and complete the installation process

Step 2: Validate cluster configuration

  • Open Failover Cluster Manager on one of the nodes
  • Click on Validate Configuration under the Actions pane
  • Add all nodes to the configuration and run the validation tests

Step 3: Create a new cluster

  • In Failover Cluster Manager, click on Create Cluster under the Actions pane
  • Add all nodes to the cluster and specify a cluster name and IP address
  • Complete the cluster creation process

Step 4: Disk and Quorum settings

  • Add any additional storage that you want to use for the cluster, such as a shared disk. Click on Next to continue
  • Review the configuration settings and click on Finish to create the cluster
  • Once the cluster is created, configure the Quorum settings. Right-click on the cluster name in the Failover Cluster Manager and select More Actions and then Configure Cluster Quorum Settings
  • Follow the wizard to configure the Quorum settings. You can choose to use a disk witness or a file share witness as the Quorum configuration
  • Review the configuration settings and click on "Finish" to complete the Quorum configuration.

Step 5: Configure cluster roles

  • In Failover Cluster Manager, right-click on Roles and select Configure Role
  • Select the role you want to configure (e.g. a File Server) and follow the wizard to configure it with the desired settings

Step 6: Test failover

  • To test failover, right-click on the role in Failover Cluster Manager and select Move
  • Choose to move the role to another node and monitor the failover process

Step 7: Monitor cluster health

  • Regularly monitor the health of the cluster in Failover Cluster Manager
  • Check for any warnings or errors that may indicate issues with the cluster configuration or nodes

By following these steps, you can successfully configure failover clustering including nodes in Windows Server for high availability and disaster recovery

.

BTW, Thanks for posting such great articles.

Try AG- mutisite cluster configuration document. Now a days everyone is setting up such design clusters. Let me know if you need any information.
