Fae Farm - Aspen's Chair
It's been a month since Fae Farm was released! To celebrate I wanted to share my favourite concept for the game: Aspen the Carpenter's Chair. I had a very short period of time to do this concept and really wanted to do as responsible a job as possible--I got a lot of help from Nicholas Kole who shared a lot of amazing resources for wheelchair education and information. This was a really fun challenge to make something that felt like it could be actually usable in real life and also fit the chunky and small scale of our world. I wanted it to feel beautiful and hand-crafted, like Aspen's masterwork that he'd been working on and improving throughout his life. The final design we slanted the wheels in a little bit so his wee arms could reach the rims, and in a bit of an homage to more athletic chairs. The final model was made by the wonderful Romain Clesse and at each stage, including animation, more insight and research was added. It was such a fun team effort. I think this was also my first time using Procreate for concept work!
