Let's talk about facts and stats that shatter misconceptions about people with disabilities (PwD).

• Prevalence: Did you know that around 1.3 billion people worldwide experience significant disability? That's a whopping 16% of the global population, or 1 in every 6 individuals. This number is on the rise due to various factors like aging and an increase in chronic health conditions.?

• Health Inequities: Unfortunately, PwD often face significant health disparities. They are at risk of dying 20 years earlier and have a higher likelihood of developing conditions like diabetes, stroke, or depression. Accessibility to healthcare facilities remains a considerable challenge. These disparities are often linked to broader socio-economic and political factors.?

• Employment: While 5 million disabled individuals are part of the workforce, the employment rate among disabled people stands at 53%, compared to 82% for non-disabled individuals. It's essential to recognize that disabled individuals are almost twice as likely to be unemployed and three times as likely to be economically inactive.?
