Factory Restart Guide
Greetings from Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Jaipur!
Hope you and your family members are safe at home. In view of phase-wise relaxing of lockdown by the government of India, we at Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Jaipur would like to provide a few steps prior to starting your machines.
In this mail, you will find short maintenance tips for the easy and safe start of your machine. We recommend the below steps procedure to avoid any unwanted failures and product damages. Do not skip these steps in the given sequence and hence avoid major damages to your machines.
These steps give you basic guidelines during the inspection and before starting the machine. Kindly take the assistance of your maintenance team for these procedures.
Best wishes and the best of good fortune as you resume operations. Hydraulics & Pneumatics, Jaipur team is reachable as always to support you.
Good luck!
Five important steps for your machines
Step:1
Pneumatic Supply
Disconnect the main Pneumatic supply from the machine, flush the main pipeline and compressor.
Since the machine or plant is unused over a long period of time, the residual air trapped in these pipelines has condensed. This will result in the formation of dust particles, humidity, corrosion, and rust. These contaminants can harm the pneumatic equipment in the machines. Therefore, kindly follow the below process.
- Disconnect all pneumatic input lines of the machine from the main supply.
- Drain the condensate at every drain checkpoints in the plant line.
- Run the compressor and flush out the contaminants present in the pipeline.
- Ensure air without any contaminants in the pipelines.
- Ensure that you have enough stock of spares i.e., Tubes, Fittings, Valves, Seal kits, etc.
Step:2
Flushing of Filter regulator and Lubricator (FRL) unit
- Check and drain all the FRC's filter bowls. Drain the main air reservoir also. Normally the main reservoir is made of M.S, hence there are chances of rust formation inside.
- Check for any damage/crack in the Pneumatic tubing (Visual inspection).
- Disconnect the output line of the FRL Unit.
Connect the main Pneumatic supply to the input of the machine and FRL.
- Switch ON the Pneumatic air and drain the condensate of the filter.
- Switch OFF the pneumatic supply.
- Check the filter cartridge for clogging (color changes to dark/black) and change accordingly
- Check the level of oil in the lubricator and refill accordingly.
- If there are other pneumatic components connected between the output of the FRL service unit and input of Valve/Valve Terminal, kindly flush out the residual air in the same process. For this, kindly disconnect the input lines of the Valve/Valve Terminal before flushing.
Step:3
Operation of Valves & Valve Terminals
- It is difficult to disconnect each valve in the valve terminals. Since the Valves are not actuated for a long period of time, the solenoid coils may not generate the required electromagnetic effect to shift the plunger.
- Check for any damage/crack in the Pneumatic tubing from the Valve output to the actuators (Visual inspection).
- Connect the input of the Valve/valve terminal to the air supply.
- Operate each valve with the manual over-ride option. Do not operate via solenoids.
If the valves do not respond, kindly contact the local sales engineer at Festo for further action.
Step:4
Actuators, Sensors & Accessories
- Check for any damage/crack in the Pneumatic tubing of the Actuators (Visual inspection). Replace the tubing if it is damaged.
- Check rod seals of the actuators for any crack formation (Visual inspection). Contact Festo sales engineer for further action.
- Surfaces of all capacitive and optical sensors to be cleaned (wiped) to remove the dust particles for better sensing range.
- All hinging points of Leverages/linkages/
fulcrum/joints to be inspected for friction. They should be re-greased if friction exists and their greasing is dried.
Step:5
Lubrication
The guides of the guided drives to be lubricated. The existing lubrication might have gone dry.
