Ink supply continuity can also be called ink fluidity, if the ink fluidity is not good, resulting in insufficient ink supply, the inkjet printing process may break the ink, directly affecting the quality of the product, digital printing ink fluidity and what factors?
1. Digital printing equipment and printing environment
The printing environment temperature can not be too high or too low, which will affect the ink viscosity, surface tension and other physicochemical parameters of the change, so to ensure that the temperature and humidity of the studio environment, according to the seasonal changes in different areas of the treatment, such as adding humidifiers, heaters, air conditioning and other methods. The stability of the printing equipment will be affected by the tightness of the piping of the ink supply system. If the piping of the ink supply system is not well sealed, the ink in the printing and placement process will be part of the moisture and low boiling point solvent volatilization, ink viscosity and surface tension and other parameters will change. Therefore, regular maintenance of digital printing equipment is very necessary.
2. Ink moisturizing
Digital direct spray printing machine in the water moisturizing and stability of its viscosity and surface tension is not easy to change with the temperature changes, and promote the formation of thin and brittle film at the nozzle, easy to dissolve in the airbrush without clogging. Again inkjet printing. Inks are primarily water-based systems. Most of the solvents used are water-soluble organic mixtures. Commonly used water-soluble solvents are alcohols and polyols. These organic mixtures can improve the stability of the ink.
3. The particle size of the ink
Printing ink particle size has a great impact on the stability of the ink system. As the average diameter of the nozzle is only 50um or so, the particle size is too large when it is easy to block the nozzle; the average particle size of the ink and the conduit and nozzle holes should be negligible compared to ensure good fluidity. Therefore, the ink needs to be filtered through 1um and 0.5um (filter membrane aperture adjusted according to the type of ink) to control the particle size.
4. Wettability of ink
The wettability of the ink is related to the surface tension. The surface tension and dynamic surface tension of the ink affect the wetting of the ink on the pipe and nozzle, as well as the final wetting and spreading on the print medium. If the surface tension is too high, it may result in insufficient wetting and inadequate ink supply; if the surface tension is too low, i.e., the wetting is too strong, it may result in ink droplets collecting in the nozzle, leading to broken ink dots. Proper surface tension is the key factor. Generally, the surface tension is controlled at about 30-50mn/m.
