Fact of The Day – AI Bots Can Trick Captcha Tests

Vicarious, a company constantly looking to improve AI robots have built a robot which has cracked the captcha code designed to allow sites to tell the difference between a human and bot on the site. captcha stands for Completely Automated Public Turing Test To Tell Computers and Humans Apart and appears as distorted text, which, until recently, bots haven’t been able to figure out.

This new robot, however, can be trained to work out various different captcha including non-text digits and handwritten digits. It does so by mimicking the way the human brain recognises and identifies objects by looking at the way the human brain does this. The researchers tested the AI’s ability to trick the captcha by testing it against text-based captchas provided to companies such as PayPal. The researchers will now look into developing the AI bots to trick the non text-based captchas.
