The Oversight of Common Sense
We often expect people to know certain things through education and others by common sense. The problem is that we overgeneralise it. Common sense is the basic level of knowledge expected of an individual in society. The question is where to get the common sense.?
The oversight of common sense is a perplexing issue in our society because we assume that everyone has it. The intuitive understanding of basic things like safety precautions, truths, and logical and ethical application of thought should be a shared foundation upon which we make decisions and navigate daily life. However, it seems to elude many individuals, leading to actions and choices that defy reason.
We should promote critical thinking and logical reasoning in education, society and family. By fostering an environment that values and cultivates disciplines, we can hope to bridge this gap and have a place where common sense is common.
