Facing up to uncomfortable realities
I talk a lot about uncomfortable realities in my work. Whatever exists today will change. Change is inevitable. You either change, or change is going to happen to you.
The first, and I think the biggest, is that the modern world was born from war and taxes. It still is every day. The war may not be obvious and be tech, culture, politics or whatever is safer societies but it's still war.
Second is the idea of 'colonization'. New ideas seep into society and its changes. Humans choose to adopt new ways - tech and otherwise - and adjust old ones. Even the idea of fighting colonization is a colonization of that idea. It's cyclical. Certain to exist.
Third is that the world has good, bad, indifferent, static, dynamic, ambitious and status quo driven people (of course there are more types). While we make dislike some people, we must engage to convince them to see a better world. 'Anti' doesn't create change. Empathy is power. They challenge here is also we are trying to bend people to OUR way of thinking like it's absolutely right. What is the guiding star for us? Absolute truth in science and suspension of disbelief.
