Facing the Unknown: A Path to Sanity
Waking up every morning with excitement and looking forward to what you do day in, day out is a blessing. How many people do you know who live such a life? Some might argue that there’s no such thing as a ‘perfect life.’ Yet, I’ve met a few individuals who truly seemed to embrace this way of living.
Starting work with a big smile every single day may seem rare, but imagine what it would feel like—for you and for everyone around you. Positive energy is contagious; it spreads to those who work with you. It’s a gift to be that person and a privilege to work alongside such people.
Life and work inevitably come with challenges, but tackling them can be invigorating—with the right attitude, of course. I firmly believe that everything is possible, every challenge can be overcome, and every hardship can eventually be left behind because there’s always hope. Obstacles, failures, setbacks, and heartbreaks are woven into the fabric of life. Like it or not, accept it or not, they’ll keep showing up. But as we gain experience, we can become better equipped to handle them. Not everyone does, though—because we’re all different.
Some things are within our control, and some are not. But one thing remains constant: we always have a choice. You have the choice to persevere or walk away; to try and improve or give up; to forgive and forget—when possible—or start anew; to stay and endure, or to leave. Everyone has limits. Some people have a higher tolerance than others, but it’s crucial to know your own.
I’ve always been someone who perseveres, with a high tolerance for setbacks, and I’m proud of that. Someone has to be willing to go the extra mile to save the day, relationships, or the collective effort that’s been poured into something. Life’s difficulties are no secret—great things often come to those who wait.
But sometimes, the negativity you face every day can feel suffocating, and it makes you question how much longer you can wait. Your happiness isn’t anyone else’s responsibility or priority. And if your positivity and effort seem to lead nowhere, no matter how hard you try, it might be time to cut ties.
That’s a choice, too. As daunting as the unknown may feel, you must be brave and act—for the sake of your sanity.
