Facilitative Leadership
John Q Adams is attributed to the sentence: "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." And as such, every single one of us is capable of such actions, be one a manager or an employee. Such leadership usually takes the form of facilitative leadership.
Facilitative leaders:
- use a dynamic and empowering style, are sensitive to the structure of the team and organization, seek ways of going beyond limits set by that structure, and help bring out the best of their teams and individuals;
- gain access to a groups’ diverse perspectives in facing issues while maintaining respect and integrity within the team;
- seek and are open to decisions that will be owned and implemented by members of the team; and
- rely on and trust the wisdom and competence of the team, receive input without judgment and work toward an experience of success for the entire team.
