Facilitation Mastery Phase 5 - the all-important FOLLOW-UP

1. WHAT SUBJECT I’M CURIOUS ABOUT:
As we said in the title of our September series, we are developing Elite Executives. With continued focus each day our executives are growing and evolving. Progressing their careers and preparing to launch to the next level. So as we enter week 4 of this month we look to wrap up our efforts to master Facilitation.
This final look at the subject will zero in on the crucial final phase 5, the FOLLOW-UP.
Imagine you have done everything right as a Facilitator until this point. Your preparation was extraordinary, you nailed the opening through a story, and you managed to maintain the audience engagement and focus, then your "recency moment," where you successfully finished on a high. Everyone left the event talking about how much they enjoyed it and learned.
However, as we know from the Forgetting Curve theory, that euphoria won't last. In fact, what was learned will for the most part be forgotten. Participants will return to their work and the daily craziness will quickly consume their thoughts and activities. Even the most exceptional event whilst the memorable will fail to materialize into much beyond the closing if this next phase is overlooked. And yet this is so often the case.
In this Follow-Up phase, we introduce our Mastermind colleagues to ways that you can maintain the engagement. Maintain the momentum and keep that focus toward the achievement of those activities that were agreed on in the closing Call To Action.? Interestingly, leaders often leave this phase and miss a golden opportunity to create even more impact and establish their influence as true professionals.
One great opportunity is to generate feedback about the event and also about the leader's performance. It's a growth opportunity gone begging.?? So as you read through the remainder of this newsletter take time to pause and reflect on your own approach after the meeting, workshop, conference or event has concluded - whether you were the facilitator or the participant.
Have you experienced those events where there was a follow-up and if so what was the impact? We're pretty sure that you will have a stronger memory of that program than one where there was nothing. Now that you have all 5 phases laid out for you in achieving Facilitation Mastery, why not take the opportunity (the absolute final opportunity) to register and join us on Tuesday 25 September for our Mastermind?

3. WHAT INSIGHTS AM I SHARING:
Emotional Intelligence perhaps, but for me we fail to empathize enough with the need for self-awareness to be closely linked with the self-regulation component. It's one for us to become self aware yet an entirely different matter to do something about it.
