A facilitated conference: What is it and why should I come?
Learning professionals understand the difference between a lecture and a facilitated class. Actually – let me rephrase that – pretty much everybody knows the difference between a sore backside and active engagement, between a yawn and a laugh, or between boring and engaging. And that is the difference we want to make at the 2017 Learning that Counts Conference. It’s true – there aren’t any breakout sessions… or maybe they’re all breakout sessions!
So why are we facilitating this conference differently than a typical conference? It really stems from the belief that learning is an individual story. Groups don’t learn anything, individuals do. But at the same time, individuals learn better when they are surrounded by other individuals who are also learning. The same is true at a conference. YOU are the individual we want to reach out to. And your coworker. And your boss.
Throughout the conference, the speakers, individual learners themselves, will participate along with you and we will grow together. Peter Bailey, our conference facilitator, and each of our session facilitators will masterfully weave the sessions together with engaging activities, fun interaction, and practical applications. We will culminate by helping you make sure the story you are writing connects with your own mission and passion.
ATD-GTC wants to be a small part of your individual story. And we want YOU to be part of ours.
I’m looking forward to learning with you!
