Facebook, your #1 platform for recruitment?

Facebook, your #1 platform for recruitment?

When it comes to #socialrecruitment, we know it is all about LinkedIn. And yes, traditionally LinkedIn has been the platform to recruit white-collar (excuse the expression) workers, but today it’s time to expand your horizon and include Facebook in your strategy.

Why do you need to add Facebook to the mix?

Facebook’s main benefit is its massive daily user base – it’s the biggest talent pool in the world.

Here are 8 more reasons:

?? Facebook has 4 x more members than LinkedIn. They include both blue and white collar workers

?? Facebook is a much better place to showcase your company culture

?? Facebook (notes) allow blog posts on the company page (employer branding and more)

?? Facebook has had Live features for a long time

?? All the content allows you to start chat conversations from your company page

??Facebook also has FREE job posting type

?? Facebook’s targeting options outreach those on LinkedIn (okay may be profession oriented, but more cultural fit related)

?? Cost for sponsoring are lower than on LinkedIn

Be aware and cautious!

? What does your profile and background picture look like?

Most recruiters run away when you show them how to use their LinkedIn recruiter skills on Facebook. They start yelling that Facebook is private life and not professional life. Guess what that wall came down a long time ago.

Don’t believe me? Well, as soon as you befriended a co-worker the veil dropped. You might be a little more cautious accepting people but still.

Remember Facebook is pretty much organized like LinkedIn…

  • Friends = 1st degree connections
  • Friends of Friends = 2nd-degree connections (here are your passive candidates)

Just like LinkedIn, we have personal profiles, Fan pages (aka Company pages), Showcase pages (aka Working @ company pages), groups, … and they can all be used for recruitment in the same way.

Time to put the rubber to the road and use Facebook just like LinkedIn....

?? What if you connected with candidates (recruiters) on Facebook. Be sure use to use Friend Lists to separate your candidates from your personal friends

?? Proactively Search Facebook for people to recruit

?? Ask for Friends to do introductions to Friends of Friends

?? Do status updates (including job postings) on your personal profile (for the candidate friend list)

?? Contribute to and share content from your company’s fan page or employer branding page

?? Become members of (professional) groups on Facebook and be able to send them messages on Facebook

?? Follow people and pages like you do on LinkedIn

Remember, it will feel very awkward in the beginning but once you get the hang of it it will make you an outstanding performer!

Still not convinced?

Do you still have doubts about adding Facebook to your recruitment tools, here are some more reasons to add Facebook.

?? Facebook allows you to message anyone for Free, LinkedIn offers your paid InMails that are considered spam for most recipients

?? Facebook users are more likely to follow, like or engage your company pages while on LinkedIn it sometimes seems it looks like beating a dead horse

?? Candidates link to many recruiters while on Facebook you earn the privilege

?? Facebook allows you to build a community while LinkedIn is much more 1-to-1 based

?? Facebook offers a much more seamless job application and comes free (sponsoring optional)

?? Facebook caters to both blue and white color jobs!

In essence, Facebook allows users to more easily share jobs with friends and family that may be of interest or qualified and appeals to a much larger audience, including potential employees who may not be seeking a new job but are open to it but are friends of friends.

Conclusion

If you are not using Facebook for recruitment, you will soon find yourself at a loss for finding new candidates. So, I challenge you to start using Facebook for recruitment NOW!

Job seekers should have many options for getting required jobs. Facebook should handle the private data securely. They should no share it with recruiters.
