Facebook is suing four Chines companies for TM infringement and cybersquatting

Facebook is suing four Chinese companies namely, Xiu Network Science and Technology Company, Xiu Feishu Science and Technology Company, Xiufei Book Technology Co., Home Network (Fujian) Technology Co., Ltd for allegedly selling fake Facebook and Instagram accounts.
The complaint was filed on 1st March, 2019 in the Federal Court of the U.S. Facebook argues that these Chinese companies manages multiple websites which promotes sale of fake accounts since 2017. Four individuals are also named in the lawsuit.
Facebook is asking for damages for $100,000 each for six websites it listed in the complaint for infringement of trademark, violation of terms of service and cybersquatting domain names.
Paul Grewal, Facebook’s Vice-President said in an announcement that these Chinese companies also promoted the sale of fake accounts not only of Facebook and Instagram but also Amazon, Apple, Google, LinkedIn and Twitter.
