Get ready to do the hustle... on social media marketing
Is it still possible to reach and add value to a community on Facebook? Well it depends on whether you’re truly considerate of your audience and put the effort into generating content that will be appreciated, shared and engaged with. This may take a little longer… but you’re just going to have to put that extra bit of effort in!
Blend your efforts
You might want to try blending efforts across some of the social channels and that will boost the engagement on Facebook. So, twitter is a real obvious one there. You should be looking for communities there.
Boost and amplify
However, I wouldn’t design a plan to completely cut out or disregard paid promotion or amplification on Facebook. Instead, I would recognise that budget constraints are in play right now, and I’d design a plan which gives you trigger points that give you some sort of ROI or community.
This will make it affordable for you to start boosting and amplifying with some paid promotion, without a shadow of a doubt it will help your community to grow a lot faster. It is possible and worthwhile without investment initially.
Now do the hustle!
The investment you’ve got to make is in effort and hustle…along with adding the value in content that your audience will appreciate and share…which ultimately, will ensure that you grow.
So yes, in my opinion, it is still highly worthwhile to spend time engaging with Facebook. Yes, the reach has been cut dramatically… but not entirely, you’ve just got to be willing to put the work in!

9 年My company has just started to place ad in Facebook and there're some interesting results. e.g. the quality of the paid reach users. I've made it really specific - to local people: people who lives in Hong Kong and Chinese as their language. Still there is a big portion of the paid reach goes to a certain group of expats, expats who are from some countries that I've excluded them due to other advertisers' experiences I learnt, and obviously they do not use Chinese as their language. So I seriously have doubt whether FB ad really worths it.
