Facebook news: Testing AI-generated stories from your previously shared images
Atawad | Social Media Agency
A creative agency that makes brands more social.
In the race "which social network is the most attractive and where users spend the most time" Facebook is not the first one we think of.
That's why Facebook keeps exploring new ways to get more people to post to Stories, this time with a new automated Stories process that uses image recognition AI to create new Stories from your shared content.
Today, some users have the ability to use this brand new feature that Facebook calls "Advanced Stories".
How does it work?
This process will generate stories based on the images you upload to the app, using thematic matching to provide template frames that you can share with your audience.
As described by social media: "Allow Facebook to suggest high-quality, out-of-the-box stories using advanced photo and video data, including image quality, location, presence of people or pets.".
For who?
For regular users, this content seems to lack a bit of authenticity and is somewhat artificial.
But this new tool feels like an opportunity for social media agencies who manage business pages, it could be a handy tool for brands to help create batch content, and highlight specific products or themes in a reminder post.
Adapt to its users
Meta's two social networks, Facebook and Instagram, have sought to better match the new needs of users, including shifts in behavior toward Stories and private messaging. Their analysis showed that users are posting less original content in the News Feed. People are still consuming content in the main feed, with Meta's AI recommendations helping to keep people scrolling longer, but Meta also needs to ensure that people are still getting real value from their in-app experience.
New ways of consuming content and people's behavior towards social networks have made them more and more reluctant to share in public, but rather to a certain group of friends in private.
The Stories format remains an attractive feature due to its temporary nature as opposed to the publication on your profile, which remains there forever (or until you delete it).
So to get people to spend more time on its social networks, Meta is working to create more tools to do just that, like its new tools like Channels and Notes on IG.
Maybe this will help keep that personal engagement going - or maybe people won't care about automated Stories and they'll fall by the wayside.
We'll see the results of this launch in a few months ??
