Facebook Live/RTMPS support on MiNE Media devices
Overview
Facebook Live was supposed to only accept RTMPS connections (RTMP over a TLS/SSL connection)as of May 1st, 2019 and indicated it would no longer accept the original RTMP streaming method.
What Is RTMPS?
RTMPS is a secure form of RTMP — with the “S” mean “secure”. By streaming encrypted data via a secure connection, RTMPS prevents third parties from intercepting your live streams while en route to Facebook’s servers.
The only other difference between the two protocols is the stream URL. In other words, when streaming to Facebook Live, you need to use a URL that starts with rtmps:// as opposed to rtmp://.
Does MiNE Media support RTMPS?
After Facebook support RTMPS, meanwhile, Mine Q7/Q8/R8 video encoder support RTMPS.
