Facebook, Instagram or Snapchat? Which Platform is Better for Your Stories?
The images and videos that disappear within 24 hours are no longer a defining feature of Snapchat platform. Instagram decide to recreate this with Stories and now Facebook has played copycat in their Messenger Day. But which should you use? Are there any differences between them?
While Facebook Messenger Day, Snapchat, and Instagram Stories work basically the same way, they still have individual differences that give them advantages over each other. Here are some unique features of each platform.
Snapchat: if there is a way to define Snapchat uniqueness, I would say it’s fun and authentic. Even if Snapchat usage/engagement has gone down significantly since the release of Instagram Stories, this platform has a unique vibe that makes their users remain loyal. Also, their geofilters is another distinctive and exclusive advantage. If you have a loyal audience on Snapchat, why not make the most of it and get the most mileage out of that platform?
Facebook: the most apparent difference between Facebook and Snapchat stories comes down to a hand movement. You swipe up and down to get your fav Facebook Stories filters and left and right for Snapchat. Also, Facebook lets you roll video for up to 20 seconds. The only thing that makes Facebook Stories lose in front of the other two is that you can only use Stories or Messenger Day from a normal user profile. Facebook Pages don’t have access to it yet. That means you would need to have strong relationships with your clients through your personal profile to make this work.
Instagram: out of the three platforms, Instagram has the most unique advantages. It has an enormous and more diverse audience. You can create Live Stories and interact with your audience in real-time. Their “explore section” allows you to show your stories to new users who haven’t connected with you yet and their Instagram Story Ads can be extraordinarily efficient. Instagram Stories is almost always going to be a safe bet to choose.
It doesn’t really matter whether you choose Facebook, Instagram, or Snapchat stories. What does matter is whether through these tools you’re providing content of value to your audience, and they are responding to it in such a way it benefits your business. What do you think?
