THE Worst Business Of The Year
This year, the world is collectively giving Facebook a lump of coal in its stocking.
As they do every year, Yahoo! Finance polled its audience about which company was doing the absolute worst and for 2021, Meta/Facebook takes the cake.
Unlike the other companies on Yahoo Finance’s 2021 naughty list like Robinhood—who mostly ended up here after they?froze trading on GameStop stocks—Meta landed at the top of the list for a series of offenses over the course of 2021.
Most people see the company’s rebrand as a shallow tactic to divert criticism and many of the poll responses heavily criticized Meta CEO, Mark Zuckerberg.
So, how do you solve a problem like Facebook? The platform puts marketers in an odd position—while there’s significantly less chance of campaigns blowing up on Facebook the way they can on Twitter, Instagram, and especially TikTok, not utilizing Facebook makes a brand instantly seem illegitimate.
Still, though, many brands are beginning to look beyond Facebook in lieu of platforms with a more defined audience and specific features.
